The independent local dog daycare Round Rock has trusted since 2006.
No corporate parent. No private equity ownership. No franchise fees pulling money out of the facility. Just one family-run daycare doing the same job, the same way, for two decades.
Why we started, and why we're still here
We've been proudly serving dogs and their families in Round Rock since 2006. The market we opened into looked nothing like today's: there were almost no purpose-built dog daycares anywhere in central Texas, and certainly no national chains within 30 miles of us. We started this place because we wanted somewhere we could send our own dogs and feel good about it. That's still the bar.
What's changed in 20 years is the rise of the corporate model. The franchise chains and PE-backed roll-ups are everywhere now. They're not bad people, but they answer to a head office, an investor deck, and a quarterly KPI. We answer to the dogs in the building today, the families who drop them off, and the people who work here.
What we stand for
Honesty over upsell. We don't sell add-ons your dog doesn't need. We don't run promo pricing designed to lock you into a non-refundable pass. If your dog isn't a good fit for our environment, we'll tell you and recommend an alternative, even if that means losing your business.
Transparency over polish. Live webcams streaming the play areas all day. 24/7 on-site staff during boarding stays. Plain pricing on the website, and a real human answering the phone. If you want to watch your dog mid-zoomies at 2pm or know who's in the building at 2am, you can. That's not a feature; that's the baseline.
Stability over hype. We've been in the same building, with broadly the same approach, since 2006. Our staff stay because we treat them well and pay them fairly. The relationships your dog builds with the people here aren't going to disappear in a re-org.
Independence on purpose. We've turned down every acquisition offer that's come our way, and there have been a few. Our freedom to make calls based on what's right for the dogs, not what's right for shareholders, is the entire point of how we operate.
How the daycare day actually works
Our model is built around full-day, off-leash, supervised group play. Dogs arrive in the morning, get sorted onto the small side or big side based on their evaluation, and spend the morning playing in our climate-controlled indoor and outdoor areas. From 12 to 2pm we close for nap time, every dog rests, the play areas get cleaned, and the staff get a break. Then it's back to play until evening pick-up.
That structure gives most dogs 6+ hours of active social play. It's a different model from the "crate-and-rotate" approach used at many larger facilities, where dogs cycle in and out of crates every 90 minutes. Both models have their place, ours just happens to be the one we believe in.
Standards every dog has to meet
To attend daycare or boarding here, every dog needs to be:
- Spayed or neutered if they are over 6 months old. This is a behavioral standard, not a medical one. We respect that your vet may recommend waiting longer for some breeds, and we know early neutering isn't an option for every dog. We're being clear about our policy, not arguing with your vet.
- Current on vaccinations. Specifically Rabies, Bordetella, Distemper, and Parvo. We'll need to see records before evaluation day.
- Past the evaluation process. Every new dog completes a free evaluation day before joining the regular group. We use it to assess fit, introduce them carefully, and make sure they're in the right room with the right playmates.
What we don't do
We're a daycare and boarding facility, not a one-stop pet shop. We don't offer grooming, training programs, or veterinary services on-site. We don't take cats. We don't do early drop-off or late pick-up outside posted hours. If you need any of those, we're happy to refer you to local people we trust.
The owner's note
If you've made it this far, thank you for reading. The reality of running an independent business for 20 years is that it's the same person making the decisions today as in 2006. When you talk to us, you're talking to the people who own and run the building. We like it that way.
If you have your own dog (or dogs) and you're looking for somewhere that treats them like the family member they are, we'd love to meet them. Two free days of daycare, no payment required, no commitment. Show up with vaccine records and we'll take it from there.
